What is Functional Fitness with Dumbbells? - Rezlek Fitness

All you need is a pair of dumbbells

Functional fitness training with dumbbells is a type of strength training that focuses on using exercises that focus on improving the body’s ability to perform everyday real-life, daily living tasks, like bending, twisting, lifting, loading, pushing, pulling, squatting and hauling. In other words you improve functional strength, power, coordination, mobility, balance, and stability.

Here are some of the important exercises you can do at home with Rezlek Fitness dumbbells for functional training:

1- Squats: Squats are a great exercise for improving lower body strength, power, and stability. To perform a squat, stand with feet hip-width apart and lower your body by bending your knees and hips, keeping your weight over your heels and chest up. Then, push your hips back and stand back up.

2- Lunges: Lunges are a great exercise for improving lower body strength, power, balance and stability. To perform a lunge, stand with feet hip-width apart and step one leg forward and lower your body by bending your front knee to a 90-degree angle. Then, push through your heel to return to starting position.

3- Deadlifts: Deadlifts are a great exercise for improving total body strength. To perform a deadlift, start with feet hip-width apart and holding a dumbbell in both hands. Bend your knees and hinge your hips back to lower the dumbbell to the ground. Then, drive through your heels to stand back up.

4- Presses: Presses are a great exercise for improving upper body strength and power. To perform a press, start with feet hip-width apart and holding a dumbbell in both hands. Engage your core and press the dumbbells up.

5- Rows: Rows are a great exercise for improving upper body strength and stability. To perform a row, start with feet hip-width apart and holding a dumbbell in one hand. Hinge forward from the hips and row the weight up to your chest. Then, lower the dumbbell back to starting position.

Functional training is so important and we all need to make time for it in our fitness routines. And although training for a nice physique is great and important, training for function and movement is vital. Hope you enjoyed the tips!
